National Cavy Club Show Support

What is Show Support?

Show support is available to any cavy club, specialist, local or area upon the application of the club secretary. The club secretary must apply in writing to the National Cavy Club Show Support Secretary each year enclosing a full schedule, a list of show dates and judges, this is normally done as soon as the show secretary has all judges and dates booked.
Cards are then sent to the secretary to be awarded at their shows.

What do I do if I win a National Cavy Club Show Support Pen Card?

Firstly you must be a member of the National Cavy Club to claim the award. Make sure the card is filled out completely with all the information possible given and send it together with a stamped addressed envelope to the Show Support Secretary, details are always printed on the show support cards. Remember that a good sized envelope should be used, A5 minimum with a single first/second stamp is normally sufficient unless you are claiming several awards at once then please use larger envelope with more postage on the stamped addressed envelope.

What will I get when I send in the show support pen card?

National Cavy Club Members will receive the award written on the card, this is normally a rosette or a diploma. Points are also awarded for the Diploma Claims Competition, each card is worth one point and points are awarded for each card sent in between 1st January and 31st December of each year. Any card sent in outside the year date on the card will be honoured with the award provided the claimant was a fully paid up member of the National Cavy Club at the time the Show Support Card was awarded, but will not be included in the yearly competition.

What is the Yearly Competition?

As previously stated the competition is open to fully paid up members of the National Cavy Club. It is split into four sections, currently - open section, rare variety, juvenile and pet. As well as the claimant being sent their award of a diploma or rosette each pen card is also worth one point in the competition run between 1st January and 31st December each year. Once the last show offering show support in that particular year has been and gone a couple of weeks are given for any claims to be sent in allowing reasonable time for the delays in post at Christmas. The winners of each section will be published on the National Cavy Club Website and also in Cavies Magazine. Prizes are awarded to the winners of each section at the National Cavy Club AGM Show normally held around March time. Sometimes members do not wish to claim rosettes/diplomas but only wish to take part in the yearly competition, if this is the case the claimant should write clearly across the card NO AWARD REQUIRED, POINTS ONLY. When ONLY claiming points you do not need to include an SAE as nothing will be returned to the claimant.

How do I know if my local club offers National Show Support Cards?

All clubs offering show support will be listed on the National Cavy Club website and also listed in Cavies. National Cavy Club members can ask their local clubs to apply for show support offering their members extra at each show. If you are not sure whether or not a club offers National Show Support just ask the club secretary or the National Cavy Club Show Support Secretary.

Start collecting your show support cards now to receive your awards and for the chance of gaining points in the competition.
